Soaring Straws
The relationship between Gravitational Potential Energy and Elastic Potential Energy is the amount of stretch on the rubber bandwhich results in a higher elevation. In our lab our outcome did not support the comparison between Gravitational Potential Energy and Elastic Potential Energy. The data does not show consistant elevation when increased or pull on the rubber band was applied. My partner and I were very confused with the result of our data. Our data was varied. The tensionat 3cm was shot higher than at 4cm and 5cm when pulled and 4cm was less than 5cm pulled. We could have used a new model of the rocket or adjusted the tension to the rubber band. Our result could have some error due to damage to the rocket or poor measuring. If we had a better reading or a better rocket our lab may have come out the way we were exspecting. Also if we had taken a better look at our results sooner we could have retested the lab and posibly gotten a different outcome.
