Chicken Wing Lab

During my science class my science teacher showed us a dissection of a chicken wing. I was very grossed out but it wasn't as bad as you would think, it was very educational i learned a lot. When we started the lab my teacher had to make a small incision to the skin or epithelial tissue of the chicken wing it was very bumpy and it was very hard for her to peel off but when she got it off we got to see a smooth white substance called fat.The purpose of this lab was to identify the different types of tissues in the chicken wing. The first thing we found was the muscle it was interesting but gross that when you pull the muscle a certain way a part of the chicken wing twitches. The second thing we found was the nerve some of the classes didn't but we were very lucky to see it. Later when my teacher broke the bone we got to see a substance called bone marrow. However before we saw the bone marrow we got to see the ligament and the cartilage the ligament is a white object that attaches to the bone and muscle and connects the bone to another bone. The cartilage is very important it helps the bones from not rubbing up against each other just think what that must feel like if it wasn't there lets just say i wouldn't be typing. we learned a lot during this lab like the chicken wing has two types of muscles the one that bends the arm called flexor and the one that straighten the arm called extensor i always thought they were just called muscles now i know i was wrong. This lab was cool gross and interesting at the same time now i know what inside a chicken wing and that ins very close in to whats in ours.
